Kevin recently presented the UK’s leading children’s charity, Barnardo’s, with a surprise donation.  The $210,000 (Ł118,000) donation marks the beginning a long-term relationship with the charity and the money was awarded to Kevin by top city firm BGC Partners for his outstanding performance at the Oval.  Lee Amaitis, Chairman and CEO of BGC Partners gave Kevin $500 per run for his performance at the Oval (totalling 86,000 US Dollars).

“Kevin is already a hero to millions on the cricket pitch, and now he’s proved he’s a hero off the field.  We are so grateful – not only will his generosity make a real difference to children who would otherwise face a future of poverty, abuse and discrimination alone, they also know that he cares,”  said Andrew Nebel, UK Director of Marketing and Communications, Barnardo’s.

About Barnardo’s
Barnardo’s works with the most vulnerable children and young people, helping them transform their lives and fulfil their potential.  It is the UK’s leading children’s charity, supporting 100,000 children and their families through 361 services in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales.  The charity believes that the lives of all children should be free from poverty, abuse and discrimination. It uses its expertise and knowledge to campaign for better care for children and to champion the rights of every child.

Barnardo’s helps children, young people and their families over the long term to overcome the most severe disadvantages – problems like abuse, homelessness and poverty – and to tackle the challenges of disability. To find out more about the charity visit our website at www.barnardos.org.uk
