Barnardo’s knocked for six by Pietersen’s gift
Kevin recently presented the UK’s leading children’s charity, Barnardo’s, with a surprise donation. The $210,000 (Ł118,000) donation marks the beginning a long-term relationship with the charity and the money was awarded to Kevin by top city firm BGC Partners for his outstanding performance at the Oval. Lee Amaitis, Chairman and CEO of BGC Partners gave Kevin $500 per run for his performance at the Oval (totalling 86,000 US Dollars).
“Kevin is already a hero to millions on the cricket pitch, and now he’s proved he’s a hero off the field. We are so grateful – not only will his generosity make a real difference to children who would otherwise face a future of poverty, abuse and discrimination alone, they also know that he cares,” said Andrew Nebel, UK Director of Marketing and Communications, Barnardo’s.
